What each ticket includes:
- 24h Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine (€18): one timed entry to levels 1 and 2 of the Colosseum, plus one entry to the Forum and Palatine within 24 hours of your slot. Secondary sources describe this as €16 plus a €2 booking fee. The official pages we saw show €18 and don’t confirm the split.
- Full Experience Underground and Arena (€24): the underground, the arena floor, levels 1 and 2, and the Forum and Palatine. A €32 version adds an educational tour.
- Full Experience Arena (€24): the arena floor, the Colosseum and the Forum and Palatine. It is valid for two consecutive days, with one Colosseum entry.
- Full Experience Attic (€24): valid for two consecutive days. From 10 October 2026, attic visits run in groups of up to 25 people every 30 minutes.
- Forum Pass SUPER (€18): the Roman Forum, the Palatine and the SUPER sites, without the Colosseum. It has no time slot and can be used within 30 days of purchase.
- 24h Only Arena (€18): listed in the official regulations of November 2024. We found no 2026 confirmation that it is still sold.
EU citizens aged 18–24 pay a reduced €2 on the main tickets. “A Night at the Colosseum 2026” has a page on the official site, but we could not read its price.
The rules that catch visitors out
- Sales open 30 days ahead. Official tickets with a Colosseum time slot go on sale 30 days before the visit date. The Full Experience Arena page and the night visits mention 7 days, so the window may differ by ticket type.
- Names and ID. Tickets are nominative. Bring an original ID with the same name as the ticket.
- Exact time. You cannot enter the Colosseum at a different time from the one you booked. Arrive early for security.
- No unofficial resale. The regulations prohibit resale of tickets by unauthorised parties.
- Sold-out slots. We found no official schedule for releasing extra tickets. A third-party claim that slots are released at 09:00 Rome time is unconfirmed.

Prices checked on 18 October 2026. They change often; check the final price before you pay.
The cheapest reseller option, the Colosseum and Roman Forum ticket with an audio guide on Tiqets, costs €35. That is €17 more than the official ticket. The Tiqets ticket with the arena floor costs €52 and takes about three hours, against €24 for the official Full Experience Arena. GetYourGuide and Viator also sell guided Colosseum tours, but their pages blocked our check and showed prices only in US dollars, so we don’t quote them.
Which ticket should you buy?
- First visit, on a budget: the official 24h ticket at €18. Book it as soon as sales open for your date, 30 days ahead.
- You want the arena floor or the underground: the official Full Experience tickets at €24. They are worth the extra €6 if you care about seeing the Colosseum from inside the arena.
- Your date is sold out: a reseller ticket or tour. Check that it includes a Colosseum time slot and not only the Forum.
- You only want the ancient ruins: the Forum Pass SUPER at €18 has no time slot, so it is the easiest ticket to get.
Pros
- The official ticket also covers the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill
- Full Experience tickets cost only €6 more and add the arena or underground
- Free entry on the first Sunday of the month and on 4 November
Cons
- Sales open only 30 days ahead, so popular slots go fast
- Tickets are nominative and need an original ID
- Reseller tickets cost about twice the official price
Opening hours
From 1 to 24 October 2026 the Colosseum opens 08:30–18:30, with last entry at 17:30. The Forum and Palatine open from 09:00. From 25 October 2026 to 28 February 2027 it closes at 16:30, with last entry at 15:30. It is closed on 25 December 2026 and 1 January 2027.
Entry is free on the first Sunday of the month and on 4 November, according to the official opening times page.
Is the Roma Pass worth it for the Colosseum?
The 72-hour Roma Pass costs €62.90 and includes two free entries to museums or sites of your choice, plus unlimited city public transport for 72 hours. The 48-hour pass costs €38 and includes one free entry. You still need a timed booking for the Colosseum. On entry tickets alone the pass rarely pays off: the Colosseum and the Borghese Gallery together cost €34 at official prices. The Rome in 3 days itinerary does the full maths.
Tips for your visit
- Book the first slot of the day. The ancient sites have little shade, and mornings are cooler.
- Plan the Forum and Palatine for the same day. Your 24-hour ticket gives one entry there, and they are right next to the Colosseum.
- The Colosseum fits best on your first day in Rome, followed by the Capitoline Hill and Monti. See the 3-day Rome itinerary.
- Going to the Vatican next? Read our Vatican Museums ticket guide, because it is closed on most Sundays.
All our Rome guides are on the Rome destination page.
