How We Research Tickets and Tours

Last updated:

Our recommendations follow the same steps for every attraction, so you can judge them yourself.

1. Official source first

We find the official ticket seller, which is usually the monument or museum itself or the public body that runs it. We record the ticket types, the adult price, what is included and any rules about time slots or ID.

2. Reseller options

We search GetYourGuide, Viator and Tiqets for the same attraction and note the “from” price, the duration, whether a guide is included, whether entry is timed or skip-the-line, and whether transport is included for day trips. We only list a product when we can see its price on the provider’s page.

3. Compare like with like

A guided tour is not the same product as an entry ticket. We compare the reseller price with the official price for the closest equivalent ticket and show the difference, so you can see what the guide, transport or flexibility costs you.

4. Date and recheck

Every table shows the date we checked the prices. We recheck popular attractions regularly and after any change to official ticket rules.

5. How we rank

We rank options by value for a typical visitor: price, what is included, cancellation terms and how reliably you can get in. Whether a provider pays us a commission plays no part. See our affiliate disclosure.

What we don’t claim

We don’t publish made-up ratings or personal experiences. Ratings and review counts belong to the platforms that collect them, and we only mention them when we can see them on the provider’s page.
